How to apply to the Intensive English Program (IEP)
You apply to the IEP with the WVU application. This page shows you each step.
Important: There is no separate IEP application right now. Use the WVU application. Follow the steps below.
Which program is right for me?

I want to study only English first.
Choose IEP Conditional Admission

I want to study English and start university classes at the same time.
Choose Regular Admission
This is the English Language Pathway (ELP). WVU will use your English test score to place you. -
My English test score is already high enough for WVU.
Choose Regular Admission
See the English test scores WVU accepts.
Steps to apply

Open the WVU application.
Make an account. Use the same name that is on your passport.
The application fee is $75. WVU does not return this money.
Open the WVU application -
Choose your campus.
For Campus, choose Morgantown (WVU Main Campus).
The IEP is only on the Morgantown campus.

Choose your student type and major.
For Student Type, choose Freshman if you finished high school (secondary school) and did not study at a university.
For Major, choose the subject you want to study. If you do not know yet, choose Undecided/Exploratory Pathway.

Find the English Proficiency page.
Go to the page called English Proficiency. Find the question "I am applying for:"

Finish and submit.
Answer all pages. Upload your documents. Click Review, then submit.
Documents you need
- Your passport
- Your high school (secondary school) records. If you apply only to the IEP, you must show that you finished secondary school.
- An English translation of any document that is not in English
- Your English test score, if you have one (TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, or Duolingo)
You can upload copies first. You will send official documents later.

*IEP classes may not be offered in summer.

Please read
- You cannot choose IEP Conditional Admission if you apply to WVU Online, WVU Potomac State College, or WVU Institute of Technology.
- Graduate students (master's or Ph.D.) use a different application. Graduate students: open the graduate application.
