WVU Portal Bahrain

West Virginia University maintains a strong presence in the Middle East. In collaboration with our strategic partner, the Royal University for Women in Bahrain, we chose Bahrain as the location for our first Global Portal.

WVU launched its first Global Portal in November 2016, with Bahrain as the inaugural location. The Bahrain Portal focuses on developing partnerships with industry, government, and educational institutions across the region. Additionally, the portal serves as a hub for coordinating WVU's alumni activities in the region.

Royal University for Women

WVU's longstanding partner, the Royal University for Women (RUW), is the host for our Portal in the Middle East. RUW is the first private university in Bahrain dedicated to the education of women, as well as the first private university in Bahrain accredited by the Higher Education Council of Bahrain.

WVU's partnership with RUW has allowed our efforts in the region to flourish, allowing for innovation and collaboration in many academic areas.  Recently, WVU and RUW have collaborated to host a series of professional development workshops in the region focusing on cyber security and forensic accounting. These highly anticipated programs have been highly attended by representatives from governments and industries across the Gulf region.

Gulf Alumni Chapter

In November 2015 WVU chartered an alumni chapter in the Gulf. This group meets regularly and maintains regular meetings to watch sporting events, discuss happenings on campus, and promoting West Virginia University in the region.
